BW’s Art Soundoff #4: Cluttered Studio, Uncluttered Mind?

Art Soundoff logo

As BW readers know, I maintain a second website called The Clutter Reports, in which I’m trying to organize or remove the clutter in my living space. This weekend’s review will be of a smartphone that I received because my provider was dropping the old 2G service of my then current phone. So as part of that review I thought I’d record today’s Art Soundoff with the phone, or at least one of the cameras. And I took this opportunity to discuss clutter in the art space. You may want to boost the sound for this one.

Internet Spotlight: StupidFox

Sorry, was that too much of an introduction...?

Sorry, was that too much of an introduction…? (actual line from the first strip)

Note the spelling. The comic (and namesake character) we’re looking at today is called StupidFox, just like my screen name is ShadowWing, just without the “Tronix”. I wonder if we have a similar history?

Usually when I do the “Interviews From The Con” videos there’s at least on person who isn’t comfortable being on camera and interviewed about their web or self-published comic. That happened this year with E.Y. Chan. (The “E” stands for Emily, the “Y” I assume is her middle initial.) I did peek through the book she was selling and found the art interesting so I took her card anyway because didn’t have the money to take the book. Maybe next time. The comic in question was StupidFox, which I checked out due to curiosity. What a fun little comic I found.

“Yesterday’s” Comic> Transformers Universe #1

Transformers Universe was a line of repainted Transformers, some dating back to the first two lines (the original and Generation Two) up to the original Robots In Disguise (using the Car Robot molds). Some of the colors were pretty cool and some were…not very good. This series tries to work with the backstory given and form a narrative running alongside the other 3H series, the Beast Machines era The Wreckers, that I finished reviewing prior to my last hiatus.

The Other Art Soundoff Participants For 2016

Art Soundoff logo

As you may have noticed the Morning Article Links have been replaced with v-logs as I take part in the Art Soundoff Challenge again this year. Started by Jerzy Drozd and Rob Stenzinger, the hosts of the Lean Into Artcast and founders of the comic teaching site Lean Into Art, Jerzy and Rob started this challenge to get other comic creators to discuss their comic-creating process and thoughts on the medium. You can see mine right here at the Spotlight, but tonight I want to showcase the other participants, or at least the ones active by post time.

Last year I posted their audio right on my site, which I have to imagine took some time to load. This year I’m just posting their Twitter announcement and letting you decide if you want to go listen to it. Besides, last year there were six of us and there are even more this year. Just click the links to go to their podcast. They’re about as long as mine, maybe 5-15 minutes. Enjoy.
