“Yesterday’s” Comic> Batman & Robin Adventures #17

People forget that between Fox’s Batman: The Animated Series and Kids WB’s The New Batman/Superman Adventures there was The Adventures Of Batman And Robin, a continuation of B:TAS that gave more focus to Robin, making them equal…except there were plenty Batman only tales but no Robin only tales. That part is disappointing.

BW’s Morning Article Link: Kenny Baker Passes Away

Kenny Baker RIP

Word came over the weekend that Kenny Baker, known mostly as R2-D2 in the Star Wars franchise, passed away at 81 years old. He also played in movies such as Flash Gordon, Time Bandits, Amadeus, and The Elephant Man. He will be missed by family, friends, and many sci-fi fans. Sure, nowadays any good electrician can scratch-build an R2 unit or his kin or design a completely original remote-controlled Astromech, and the current hotness, BB-8, is a remote controlled robot, but they’re poor replacements for what Baker brought to the character back in 1977 onward.

I really need to get my comic collection updated. Issues taking place before this in the Knight’s End storyline (and possibly Knightfall and Knightquest, which formed the story of how Bane broke Batman’s back, how he took time to recover and the poorly chose replacement, the former Azrael Jean-Paul Valley. We met him back in the Showcase ’93 review. Also, I bought this as a back issue or it may have come in a collection set, so I don’t know where the signature comes from.

Jake & Leon #284: Invasion Fail

She is. It's the principle of the thing.

She is. It’s the principle of the thing.

Why do we assume alien invaders would have superior firepower and shielding? Maybe they never fought a planet that can stand up to them?

Next week sees more doctor visits as I get closer to the re-connection surgery I mentioned in yesterday’s V-Log. So I don’t know how many long articles I can do like I did this week. Plus it has been really hot, humid, and muggy in Connecticut, which saps your will to work when you’re doing this for funzees and practice. (Although if this were my job I’d still be struggling.) I am hoping to FINALLY introduce a new art-based article like Re-Covered this week but we’ll see what happens.

Over at the Clutter Reports all I could get myself to do was repost the Free Comic Inside article from this week on the first issue of Atari Force. Hopefully I can get some more clutter cleaned up before I go offline again. Otherwise, nothing to report.

Friday Night Fights: Why Ninjak Is Banned From The Mall

One advantage is that every fight must have a kick, but unlike “Feet Of Fury” it doesn’t have to end that way. That gives me at least some leeway. Lucky for my I still have a ninja at my disposal. Tonight we prove that being a “young reader” comic doesn’t mean someone isn’t going to have a boot mark on them somewhere.
