BW’s Morning Article Link: More Not Understanding Superman

Superman Adventures #3

Come on, are DC writers really so cynical that they can’t figure out how to write Superman? Add Max Landis to the mix. Good story? Maybe, but much like Man Of Steel, apparently his latest work is a terrible rendition of Superman, even with the classic costume. Kieran Shiach of Comics Alliance takes a look at the semi-anthology Superman: American Alien.

Chapter By Chapter> Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire ch. 13

Chapter by Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

Chapter By Chapter Star Wars - Shadows Of The Empire

Last time our heroes got closer to making contact with Black Sun, Luke finished his lightsaber, and Vader went hunting for a Jedi vehicle storage area whose owner happens to be Xizor’s business rival and the Dark Prince just happened to know about it and tell the man he’s trying to ruin. How will our games go on this issue?

BW’s Morning Article Link: Alien Invasions In Comics

Next time just show her ET.

Next time just show her ET.

Alien invasions are nothing new, so of course superheroes in comics have had to deal with their fair share. Brian Cronin of Comic Book Resources gives us his twelve favorite examples.

Jake & Leon #277: Family Vacation

Don't worry, Bill, I'd probably do the same thing. Which is why I never ride them.

Well at least the cast got to have some fun while I was recovering from my various maladies. Remember, crew, you’ll have to save some fun for when I have the reversal surgery. I plan to lose time then, too. Meanwhile, the Clutter Reports is just cleaning up the couch. I’m running out of small projects and I don’t have the energy for that comic-organizing superproject. Plus the next two weeks will have me preoccupied.

With Brass City Comic Convention taking this year off and both lack of funds and the aforementioned surgery coming up, Saturday at ConnectiCon is all the conventioning I’m going to be getting to this year. I was hoping to try for the RetroWorld Expo, a tribute to retro gaming, but I’ll probably be recovering then if the schedule holds. I’ll try to get panels in but this year I want to get the self-publisher interviews done since I missed them last year due to scheduling problems. We’ll see.

Saturday Night Showcase: The Super 7

From the hall of forgotten superheroes comes The Super 7, an anthology of amazing crime fighters, produced by Filmation and airing alongside both Tarzan, which I’ve reviewed before, and The New Adventures Of Batman, which I’ve only looked at the intro for. This group of superheroes never teamed up as far I recall, but for kids on Saturday morning they were something when Super Friends wasn’t on. Tonight let’s look at the adventure of these character.

Internet Spotlight: The Power Crunch Project

The Power Crunch Project

Back when I was first ask to join Reviewers Unknown a few other writers and video reviewers were also part of the mix. One of them was KaijuD, host of a series of Japanese Giant Monster movie reviews. He got as far as two and then disappeared. Well now he’s back with The Power Crunch Project, a webseries that examines the full power of fictional characters. Here’s the trailer, and a sample review I chose. Not surprising given the rest of this paragraph and anybody who was paying attention to this site long enough, it’s Godzilla.

BW’s Morning Article Link: Spidey’s Gaming Legacy

Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man #49

With a new Spider-Man game coming out Comic Book Resources decided to take a look at the history of Spider-Man video games. I even own some of them. (Thankfully fun ones.)
