Morning Article Link: Garfield Wanted MCU Spidey

Marvel Adventures: The Avengers #39

Be careful what you wish for, I guess. In a recent interview, Andrew Garfield, the previous movie Spider-Man, mentions that he lobbied to get Spidey moved to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or as I call it, the Liveverse because of the non-cinema connects to the shared universe).

Batman: The Animated Bible> Eco-Terrorists

Batman The Animated Bible logo

I’m all in favor of protecting the environment. However, some groups tend to take that to extremes. I’ll stop here before I get political, but it features into the two villains we’re looking at today: Poison Ivy and Ra’s Al Ghul. Both villains, in the cartoon anyway, were about protecting plants specifically or the Earth in general. And both agree that the enemy is the human race. And yet both had different approaches. Ra’s is near-immortal and has vast wealth while Ivy creates killer monster plants or works with Harley Quinn in order to fund her ultimate goal. Ivy is first on our list today. What was the initial approach to Ms. Pamela Isley?

Morning Article Link: TV Comics

Battlestar Galactica #1 (Marvel)

Comics adapting televisions shows is nothing new. Two of the pioneers of this were Dell (not to be confused with the computer manufacturer) and Gold Key, both extinct but playing a major role in comic history. Previews World will make you jealous seeing some of the shows you don’t get to see adapted into comics. I know I want those Hanna-Barbera superheros and Frankenstein Jr. comics. How many of you even remember some of these shows through syndicated reruns much less when they aired?

Jake & Leon #259: The Last Jailbreak

And thus a storyline concludes.

And thus a storyline concludes.

Way back when Stephanie Brown was being given the brushoff by DC I made a comic in which she, in her Batgirl costume, was tossed into a cell with three other castoffs–Connor Hawke, Wally West, and Cassandra Cain. One by one they were reported as joining the new DC Universe (although it was around a year if not longer since they announced Steph’s return as the Spoiler that she finally did), and now Cassandra is going to be returning. The cell is now empty.

Well, I’ve been sick all week which is why there weren’t any new posts here at the Spotlight or at The Clutter Reports. I’m feeling better so new articles are coming. There’s a change in the second Star Wars comic, however. You know how I said I had a few prequel comics, like the days before even the prequel trilogy? I don’t know where they are. So as we finish up Droids I’m jumping to the Super Mario Brothers comics (we have looked at Adventures Of The Super Mario Brothers previously). From there we’ll begin the Star TREK comics. Also for Marvel Tuesday I did find a Spidey Super Stories comic I couldn’t find, so we’ll be looking at that in the afternoon tie-in review before returning to 90s comics.
