Chapter By Chapter> BattleTech: I Am Jade Falcon chapter 31

Chapter By Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

We’re on the penultimate chapter, but not the penultimate installment. While the epilogue is only eight pages long the final “official” chapter is regular chapter length just like tonight’s and last week’s so I’m going to give the epilogue its own post. So we are on the second to last chapter but the third to last installment of this book’s review. Let’s see if I can stay healthy long enough to finish this without another sick leave break.

Last week our heroes learned that at least two of their rivals are traitors to the Clan, which they are really angry about but I would think also a bit relieved since it means they have an opening to kick their butts. First however I assume they need to be exposed and I’m curious to see if that happens before our big battle. A battle that better hurry up with only two chapters left.

The only ones I heard where the Mr. Needlemouse and Final Fantasy origin stories before this. “Clawdia”, or at least the used image, came from a splash page gag strip in one of the Valiant Super Mario Brothers comics featuring King Koopa’s yearbook. She’s an unnamed classmate (none of them were named, actually) with an obsession with Koopa. Sadly she never showed up in any story I read.

BW Programming Note: Wishing This Was A Comic

Unless you count repeats.

We already have a title (which I forgot to take off of last week’s Jake & Leon when I changed gears) so I have a story idea. I just didn’t get to do it this week. As it is this week’s Clutter Report was just gathering more of my art software together to put on the “artputer”. Hopefully next week we’ll finally get back to normal and I’ll have a comic strip for you.

I’m also hoping that despite a few things I need to do this week normal writing will resume. I have two TV pilots I want to review this week, two article that are probably too late to even bother with but one of them I’m still doing for sure (I think), and hopefully a few other posts I haven’t thought up yet. We’re nearly done with BattleTech: I Am Jade Falcon over at Chapter By Chapter and if your memory’s good you know I have the next book chosen. And hopefully more Jake & Leon and more working on the artputer, with some extra clutter clearing if I can. I don’t know what’s going to happen this week because unlike last week nothing’s been scheduled. I have a better shot at being back to normal without as many filler videos and missing posts though.

I hope you had a great Easter and have a great week!

Saturday Night Showcase: Kamen Rider Black

All of these sick days have thrown whatever plans I had out the window, including any themes for Saturday Night Showcase. I know I jut did a bunch of Kamen Rider shows and that I was going to do a series of old shows but Toei Tokusatsu World just dropped the first episodes of two of my favorite series in the franchise, one from the Showa and one from the Heisei era of Riders. (That refers to the era in Japan as decided on by the current emperor. Long story, but I talked about it in my tokusatsu primer.)

While Saban’s Masked Rider, a “Power Rangers” style rework of Kamen Rider Black RX and a couple of movies, had a lot of issues–thanks in part to parent groups giving Fox the business over Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers–I never really hated the show. I thought it had a lot of potential. While looking into the series I learned it was a sequel to Kamen Rider Black, and I found a fansub of the first few episode. I immediately liked the show. It feels like something I would have watched in the 1980s, the show having premiered in 1987. Kotoro Minami’s parents are killed and he is raised by a friend of the family who treat him as another son and brother. However, he’s about to learn some dangerous secrets involving his adoptive father and ties to an organization called Gorgom. These secrets will lead him to fight evil as…Kamen Rider Black!

Turn on the closed captions for English subtitles and enjoy! I know I will!
