BW’s Morning Article Link: Coming To Disney+

When Disney+ announced all the shows and movies coming to their streaming service it was a huge bunch of one-title tweets on Twitter and a 3 hour long video of clips on YouTube. Luckily /Film just gives us the full list in an easy to read format. You know, the easy and smart way.

Chapter By Chapter: The Merry Adv Of Robin Hood part 4 ch. 1

Chapter By Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

Remember, the book is in public domain. Download or read the ebook online legally and for free at Project Gutenberg, Google Books or the Internet Archive among other sites, or check out the audiobook from LibriVox. You can also use a print copy. In either case my copy may not match up with yours chapter-wise. Follow along with the very-long subtitle. For this chapter:

When I first began this book I did warn you that my copy and how it’s laid out may differ from the version you have or the various public domain links in the intro. That’s very much the case here. Calling this “part four” is not completely accurate. I believe my copy is missing a part or two, and because I’m using a two volume set distributed in pocket-sized books for New York students in the 1940s what I have is actually volume 2 part 1 chapter 1. However, for the sake of easier to follow titling I’m going to continue the part numbering properly so while for me this is Volume 2 part 1 for this article series we are at…

Part Fourth

It is told how Robin Hood met a sorrowful knight and brought him to Sherwood. Also how the Bishop of Hereford was more generous that he desired to be. Likewise telling how Sir Richard of The Len paid his bets in due season, both to the Prior Of Emmet and to Robin Hood.

Unless this is an earlier Sir Richard…well, he still isn’t King Richard The Lionhearted and we know that the king during this story was old Hank while Prince John is but a cute little baby. The only thing he’s taking is extra formula. Is Sir Richard our sorrowful knight? How much of the story was just ruined? Well, let’s get into this week’s tale and learn for ourselves.

BW’s Morning Article Link: Galaxy Quest Documentary Coming

I don’t have any images from this movie so, here’s a transporter. {shrugs}

Galaxy Quest is on my Finally Watch list. I’ve seen bits of it because it’s too popular to avoid but it does look like a lot of fun. If you’re one of the legion of fans (given the premise I’m not sure how close that comes to irony) you probably already know about the documentary coming out for it but did you know it will have a limited theatrical run as well?

Jake & Leon #429: Bat O’Clock Shadow

Batman has a unique set of skills.

I’m not the only one who noticed this, right? Why does Batman have stubble all the time. It doesn’t make him look tougher. It makes him look tired, which is what he was during Bane’s first appearance. I should have given Bruce a mustache too but I was up against the deadline and didn’t notice I missed it.

Over at The Clutter Reports this week I did some more organizing and got a stack of books restacked. Somehow the non-fiction stack got into a mess. I need to find a moment to go through that but I had to make an article feature just to let me read my fiction books again. My mind is weird.

I had a bunch of distractions last week and I have at least one next week, but this week it should be clear sailing. That means (hopefully) some good stuff this week and I really need the space. In addition to a personal follow-up to all the Cartoon Cypher videos I posted on anime dubs this weekend is the 10th anniversary of Jake & Leon, so it’s time for the yearly best of post. However, that falls on a Saturday and I have plans for a themed edition of Saturday Night Showcase, so I’ll be posting the best of collection on Friday. However again, Friday is when I’ve been posting the many, MANY intros of Transformers, which means the Beast Machines intros will be moved to Thursday. That leaves me one day unaccounted for since the usual Chapter By Chapter look into The Merry Adventures Of Robin Hood Of Great Renown In Nottinghamshire is still going on for Monday. We’ll see what the week throws at me for Wednesday. Have a fantastic week, folks!

Saturday Night Showcase: Transformers: Cyber Missions

As a heads up I have a rather interesting one planned for next weekend, Halloween weekend. I won’t spoil it and hopefully it’s still up but it’s something different. So come back for that. All I’ll say is that it’s not Transformers related but a piece of early TV trivia I never knew about.

Transformers: Cyber Missions is a series of shorts set around the time of the movie Revenge Of The Fallen and is really just a way to promote the toys based on that line, with a cameo from the Power Core Combiners line. The animation was produced by TG Studios but thanks to what the TF Wiki refers to only as “circumstances” it was a rush job. Too bad because the models and backgrounds themselves aren’t too bad for a web series. Each episode is around four minutes, with the last two somewhat longer, with 13 episodes in total. It does mean that this playlist from the official Transformers YouTube channel will be bringing up the opening and closing bits every time, but you can skip the credits if you want.
