Even in the future of 21XX the Emerald Spears are causing trouble. What connection this has to Xander Payne escaping from the cops into time thanks to a time machine is as of yet unclear. Meanwhile, Mega Man, Pharaoh Man, and Bright Man go looking for the “rogue” Robot Masters in one of Wily’s old liars, where they come across the machine Wily was arrested for, the “Wily Walker”, which attacks our heroes. And if the excavation of the base by X and Cain in the future is right, this won’t end well for the good guys.

What they got right: Between the action in the old lab and the interaction between the scientists I rather enjoyed the story.

What they got wrong: There doesn’t seem to be a huge purpose to the 21XX story. Also we have Xander Payne using time travel. I know it’s the only way to team Mega Man and Mega Man X but frankly I don’t need to see them team up. They almost did in the Dreamwave comic, they did in the TV show, and in every fan comic I ever saw while I was part of the sprite comic community. Frankly, I don’t need to see them team up again. I’ve already seen it.

Recommendation: It’s still a good comic, you still should be reading it.
