Holy crap! A Justice League log that doesn't suck! Haven't seen that in years!

Holy crap! A Justice League log that doesn’t suck! Haven’t seen that in years!

Comics Alliance is reporting a release date for Justice League Action which is confirmed by the cable guide and I am so looking forward to Friday! This should get you a little more excited, but we’re switching cable services and I’m hoping that doesn’t come back to hurt me when it comes to seeing this.

Jake & Leon #298: Fizzbin Learns About Chanukah

And we have one spelling left.

And we have one spelling left.

When in doubt: Godzilla. I’m going to learn how to draw him yet. And yes, the kanji can be either “Gojira” or “Godzilla”, and the Hebrew translators can’t decide if it’s Hanukah, Hanukkah (which Google Chrome’s spellcheck prefers), or Chanukah. And it also means I messed up Leon’s line when I wrote “n” instead of “k”. See, this what happens when you let me talk about something I’m not familiar with. And we have one more to go.

Over at The Clutter Reports this week I got my passwords organized. And no, you don’t get to see them. Nice try.

We’re ending three comics this week. We have the finales of both Zero Hour: Crisis In Time and Darkhawk, as well as the second volume of Masters Of The Universe. Except we aren’t done with Eternia just yet as another series was made by MV Creations when the Snake Men were added to the toyline and TV show. Once that series is done the only trips to Castle Grayskull we’ll be making are part of Free Comic Inside. And I’ll be doing one of those this week, so which Super Powers superhero (or even villain) would you guys like me to check the minicomic for? If I have it from the download I’ll do it. If you can agree on anything. Or actually request something. I’ll also be doing a Sing Me A Story that is about a song that gets played at Christmas but isn’t a Christmas because I want to find out what the deal is with this song.

Otherwise I’m still looking for suggestions for Christmas-themed articles and videos to post. I’d really like a good Christmas display, like house setups that have that Christmas feel and not just a bunch of decorations to show off, or one of those building-sized projection shows. Those are always fun.

Saturday Night Showcase> Cabbage Patch Kids Christmas Special

In 1973, an art student named Xavier Roberts rediscovered a German sewing technique that allowed him to create “fabric sculptures”. He used this to create a line of handmade dolls called Little People Originals. This would give way to the infamous Cabbage Patch Kids. I grew up when these plush dolls first came out…and was so popular, and I’m totally serious here, they actually needed armored cars to deliver the darn things. Even Tickle Me Elmo wasn’t as sought after as these little things.

I’m trying to find evidence of a full animated series, because tonight’s video points to one. The Cabbage Patch Kids First Christmas features the odd-looking children ducking a villain they seem to know well and finding a trio just like them (but more human) in their quest to find the Christmas Spirit. To be honest the special is kind of mediocre. It has a heartwarming moment, but it does feel like a prototype for Home Alone 2, only in Georgia instead of New York. (Georgia is actually where the dolls are produced, so nice nod.) It’s produced by Ruby/Spears back when they knew how to make good TV so at least it’s not bad. But it’s not like you needed to convince kids to buy these dolls. (I refer you back to the armored cars. The rioting parents all knew what their kids wanted and this was prototype to Black Friday. That’s not really a good thing.) So let’s see how the kids born from produce find a new friend a new home.

“Yesterday’s” Comic> Sensation Comics #1 (or part of it)

Why part of it? Because the comiXology version only has Wonder Woman’s continued story from last week’s All-Star Comics #8. Maybe there’s a full-version out there, I don’t know. That means that missing are the origins of Mr. Terrific and Wildcat, who are lesser known outside of comics but well-known in them. There were also stories for the Gay Ghost (not that kind of gay; it was the 1940s after all), Black Pirate, and Little Blue Boy, all characters who have fallen so far into obscurity I’ve never heard of them, as well as a prose story set in World War 1. Since I don’t have access to those stories, we will only be reviewing the second half of Wonder Woman’s origin.

Friday Night Fights: Blame The Space Bug

Great, two things I hate are heroes fighting each other and heroes turning into villains. And the only fight I have for this week thanks to the theme has to have both. It’s short so let’s just get it over with.
