Chapter By Chapter> Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire ch. 27

Chapter by Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

Chapter By Chapter Star Wars - Shadows Of The Empire

When we last left our heroes, Leia was being seduced by Prince Xizor for kicks and her friends were trying to escape Darth Vader. The big question is…who is in the greater danger?

BW’s Morning Article Link: Freddy Kruger Vs. Stoners

Jack-o-lantern

While I don’t do Halloween on this site (and barely at all since the parents on my street just go to the condos) I thought this would be a good link for the season. Do you know how to stop the likes of Freddy Kruger, Pennywise, the Shark from Jaws and other monsters? Science and common sense. But mostly science. Cracked.com contributor David Christopher Bell goes monster hunting for six surprisingly easy to stop monsters. And for two of them it involves getting high. Which isn’t a surprise for Cracked. com.

And he has a message for a certain whiny girl, too.

And he has a message for a certain whiny girl, too.

Also not a surprise…no Godzilla. Because you can’t beat Godzilla…although science says it’s near impossible for him to even exist. Still, it’s Godzilla! Forget the other monsters and have a Godzilla marathon this Halloween. Why have some ordinary monster when you can celebrate with the King, baby!

I never understood the whole “never tug on Superman’s cape” line, but we know Johnathan can get away with it.

Jake & Leon #292: Doctor’s Office

Not based on a true story. Thank you Jesus!

Not based on a true story. Thank you Jesus!

I had to take my dad to have his hand worked on after cutting it, so for once I was the one in the waiting room and my dad was having surgery. And now I have to help him do stuff while he sits there bored and feeling useless. What the #$@#% is with this year? ARGHHH!

However, it’s time to finally get myself together and get back to my unpaid work. Over at The Clutter Reports I made a list of projects I want to do and plan to stick to them. Here at the Spotlight comic reviews are coming back. I hasn’t been nearly as long so I won’t be doing a recap like I did the last hiatus, but I will make sure you remember where we left off in each comic. Meanwhile, Ninjak’s appearances in the Acclaim universe and Wildstorm’s run on Thundercats begins their run this week. Also this week:

Yes, it’s the return of the Art Soundoff challenge. For the third November in a row, Jerzy Drozd and Rob Stenzinger of Lean Into Art challenge comic creators to do a quick podcast, about 5-15 minutes, to discuss something on their mind related to the creation of comics. Once again I will be taking part, with a new v-log posting on weekdays in place of the Morning Article Link. That means tomorrow will be the last one until December. I hope that’s cool with everybody and that you check out all of this year’s participants. That’s all I really have to report, so we’re back in operation. Now if I can just get the video stuff done.

Saturday Night Showcase: Godzilla Vs. Megalon

Godzilla vs. Megalon

I’m not a horror person, so when I go for a Halloween monsterfest I turn to the KING Of The Monsters, Godzilla! What I can embed here is rather limited so some of you may not like my choice. Unless you’re like me. Godzilla Versus Megalon is rather silly, I grant you. People survive being tossed around in a shipping container, an undersea race who gives their god orders, and the awesomeness that is everybody’s favorite robotic Ultraman knockoff, Jet Jaguar (pronounced “Jagar” in Japanese”! Maybe someday WordPress will make a compatible shortcode with Crackle while they still have Godzilla movies to post, but instead of scares have a few laughs with this silly little outing. Happy Halloween!

Friday Night Fights: Ram And Kick

It’s the final round before the Prize Fight in this “every fight must have a kick” theme. I must admit I’m not always the best with themes. I have so many comics that I don’t know what ones match some themes. So I got lucky on this final one, and considering I’ve missed most of this tournament due to 2016 assaulting me, I’ll take what I can.

Tails isn’t a lot of fans favorite, or at least among my internet connections. But you know me, I don’t always follow the group so you shouldn’t be surprised he’s my favorite. He’s a fox, an animal I like, who can fly, making him something of a superhero alongside the original take on Knuckles before Sonic Boom ruined that character, and he makes all kinds of cool gadgets. On top of that he makes his own comic superhero, Captain Super Fox Man! I wish I was as cool as Tails. YOU wish you were as cool as Tails. So when young Miles Prower ends up in Downunda with the Downuda Freedom Fighters, there’s going to be some bot with a bad day.
