Pinball is a lot of fun to play. I even own a pinball machine I’m trying to review for The Clutter Reports. There are bigger fans than I am, though, like ScreenCrush‘s Matt Singer, who reviews some popular pinball games based on popular and not-so-popular movies.
Darkhawk #27
Marvel (May, 1993)
“Shattered Fate” part 2: “The Future Is Prologue” WRITER: Danny Fingeroth PENCILER: Tod Smith INKER: Chris Ivy COLORIST: Troy Sayers LETTERER: Bill Oakley EDITOR: Nel Yomtov The Cabal story has last names in the credits only and today I’m not in the mood for looking up info on a three-page backstory. If they don’t have the interest in telling you who created the comic, why put credits at all?I was going to do this tomorrow so I could get the panel video up, but it takes all day (or night) to render and the latest attempt had a glitch near the end. So I’ll save it for Saturday and screw up my plans because life hates me! On to more important things.

At New York Comic-Con, a “proof of concept” trailer was dropped for a new Gamera movie, now that the dust has settled when it comes to company mergers and the like. This isn’t surprising since Godzilla got a US movie and there is talk of Toho finally bringing the Big G back. Plus this was a project that was intended to come up even before the Legendary Pictures take on Godzilla. Thanks to the internet I have seen the trailer and…I’m not as excited as I should be.
Be warned: there are some disturbing bits in this trailer.
The Batman And Robin Adventures #13
DC Comics (December, 1996)
“Knightmare” WRITER: Ty Templeton PENCILER: Brandon Kruse INKER: Rick Burchett COLORIST: Linda Medley LETTERER: Tim Harkins ASSOCIATE EDITOR: Darren Vincenzo EDITOR: Scott PetersonDuring their post-Crisis reboot DC gave Etta Candy a complete makeover and most recently the New 52 put Amanda Waller on a diet so she looks like Halle Berry. Is it the call of their Warner Brother masters? What’s wrong with a fat or even plus-sized character that isn’t a joke or having some emotional issue, even when they aren’t at an unhealthy weight? Casey Gilly of Comic Book Resources explains why body diversity is as important as gender and racial diversity, and gives some examples of it being done right. By the way, I thought the Kingpin was supposed to be all muscle and not overweight? Can he really count?
Steel #6
DC Comics (July, 1994)
“Worlds Collide” part 5: “Collision Course” WRITER/CO-CREATOR: Louise Simonson PENCILER: Chris Batista INKER: Rich Faber COLORIST: Gina Going LETTERER: Pat Brosseau EDITOR: Frank Pittarese “STEEL” CO-CREATOR: Jon BogdanoveI think the comic speaks for itself so let’s answer the question of why there were no posts Saturday. I haven’t slept well the past few days thanks to my Crohn’s-ridden body giving me grief (not a flare-up exactly but other issues) and I spent the majority of Saturday in bed. The video I hoped to have Saturday, and then today, will be up tomorrow so I can bring you some hopefully good videos in the next two weeks.
Meanwhile, Metal Guardian Faust has come to an end this week and next week sees the finale of I-Bots, so what’s next? Well, in Faust’s spot we’ll be looking at Marvel’s attempt to bring Robert Townsend’s Meteor Man into the Marvel universe…even though they have a supervillain named Meteor Man and in the final three issues I sadly don’t own they better have thought. That will last three weeks but I’m still trying to decide what will take the I-Bots spot after it ends. Too many choices, really. Masters Of The Universe will be jumping into the Star Comics run (that’ll make Sean happy) and that’s all that’s left for the report. Time to play catch-up with both work and sleep. Yes, that’s how bad my sleep cycle has been off lately, and it hasn’t been right in years to begin with.
