Look, I have nothing personal against the fanshipping crowd. They can come up with whatever combination they want whether it actually makes sense to the characters or not, though sometimes that last one makes me question their actual fandom of the material. It’s that group that DEMANDS their fanship become canon and to hell with what the writers have planned. What’s worse is when these shipped pairings are actually toxic when one really thinks about it, not only in a real world scenario but within the world created.
That’s why I’m happy to see that when the fanshippers demanded that the creator of My Hero Academia make their fanships canon (and apparently they want Baku to be a player) the mainstream fans pushed back against the demands. Considering some of the attacks made against the manga/anime series lately I’m guessing they’ve had enough of this nonsense and just want to enjoy one of their favorite series.
They’re going on that new roller coaster first one way or another!

You may have noticed the lack of posts today. Well, we had a power outage here at BW HQ late yesterday thanks to the backwash of Tropical Storm Isaias making sure Connecticut got to join in at least some of the fun. Some areas of the state are still without power as of this writing. Since the daily post and comic reviews are usually done a day in advance to make sure they go up on time I couldn’t get them done and while I could technically get the main article done on time I’d rather just get in the right pattern and keep the work schedule on course. So what I’ll do is have two comic reviews tomorrow in place of the daily article link/video and then continue on as normal tomorrow. Stay safe everyone!
The following video I thought would made a good daily quickie but I had a few more things I wanted to say that I thought the host should have brought up in his retrospective. So you get an article out of it instead.
If you’ve been here long enough you know I very much like Spider-Man Unlimited. Rino Romano is my favorite voice for our pal Peter Parker. He just nails the character so well in both identities. If they didn’t keep de-aging him back to high school I’d like to see him voice the role again. The animation was also the first time I really felt like Spider-Man was moving like a “spider man”. And yet somehow the series often gets ignored when discussing animated Spider-Man shows and I feel that’s a disservice.
So I was happy to see Owen Likes Comics do a video on the show, and I’m happy to have another opportunity to give this underrated show the attention it deserves.

In Defense Of “Love At First Sight”
In fairy tales especially the prince and princess (or various variations) fall in love the moment they see each other and in their minds are already planning to wed. This is often written off by more modern critics of the trope as unrealistic and not very likely. At best you could be immediately infatuated but not actually married. Maybe, but the problem could simply be it wasn’t done right. My parents married rather quickly and they were happily married up until my mother’s recent passing in 2015. My cousin has a similar story with her husband except they’re both still alive. It’s not completely out of the realm of possibility.
Shad Brooks usually discusses medieval life, buildings, and weaponry and how they are depicted in fantasy in period pieces while on occasion discussing science fiction tropes. He’s also a writer, recently releasing his first novel, Shadow Of The Conqueror. In this video he goes over the trope and used the example of the live-action remake of Cinderella to highlight how such a first meeting can be handled properly.
