Telltale Tells Batman’s Tale

I was going to have a commentary today. However, I was out later than I expected shopping yesterday and didn’t get much sleep last night. I don’t want to half-#%% it so I’ll save it for Monday’s posting. Instead here’s something you may want to know about.

"Holy family reunions!"

Telltale Games is a game studio known for their episodic approach to a game story. Each set of levels are released as smaller games telling a larger story. While I’ve not played any of their games I’ve heard raving reviews from my internet followees for The Walking Dead and Back To The Future, and they’ve adapted other licences as well. Now they turn their attention to the Dark Knight with an episodic Batman game. All we have is a teaser from the recent Game Awards (not the Spike version I think) but between what’s in there and their reputation, it looks like they may have something here.

Morning Article Link: Jack Is BACK!

Samurai Jack #5

It’s the news fans of Samurai Jack have been longing to hear.Spinoff Online is reporting that Genndy Tartakovsky’s action series will be returning to Cartoon Network as part of Adult Swim’s “Toonami” block. (Yes, a programming block within a programming block. I don’t get it, either.) I just hope Jim Zub, who nailed this series for IDW’s comics, gets at least one if not more episodes to work on. Seriously, CN, make that happen!

Cracked Video: 4 Things Superhero Movies Don’t Have The Balls To Do

Superman of many media

I was going to do a commentary based on something that popped up at Four Color Media Monitor but I decided to save that for tomorrow (since there’s no Friday Night Fight) after Cracked dropped this video on their YouTube page. (Or at least after I found it because I am so far behind it isn’t funny.) Because I love to find others who agree with me (one of the many reasons I started this site) here’s four things superhero movies need to get over themselves about and just embrace the awesomeness that comics brings…and these would still even work in the “realish world” they think they’re creating.

Morning Article Link: Insulting A Fictional King

Black Panther concept art

I’m not the kind of guy who cries “racism” every time some idiot does something stupid with a black character. I think the word gets thrown around so much that real racism gets to hide and cause the real damage. So I’m not calling racism here but as CBR’s Albert Ching points out, this is NOT how you introduce the big milestone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to people, namely a black superhero that isn’t just the supporting cast like War Machine and Falcon have been. While there are more black superheroes in fiction than you think, there is an underrepresentation, and even fewer good ones. Fans have been wanting to see this finally happen and when you know the character under even good writers you know why Entertainment Weekly should have rethought that cover.
