With a different personality (I don’t own a PlayStation 4 so that’s a guess based on other continuities) and slightly altered powerset this should be able to stand out apart from the first Spider-Man game of this series. I’ve heard the story of the first game is good so hopefully this will be as well. Maybe a later trailer will show more gameplay and expand on the plot.
They were the three scariest words any Superman fan who knew about Brian Michael Bendis could have heard. There could have been worse (Superman Is Canceled, Nic Cage’s Superman, Snyder’s Superman sequel) but it sure didn’t feel like it at the time. It’s not that Bendis is a bad writer. Many of his stories on their own merit have been good. People still praise his time on the Ultimate universe version of Spider-Man and he’s done plenty of stuff in his own universes. The problem is when he comes onto someone else’s. Bendis cares little for continuity or getting characters right. They’re all original characters in his mind, just that some were famous before he got there.
There was hope against hope that WarnerMedia would fix some of the problems that DC Comics and the DC Universe have had since Dan DiDio took over, a man who also cares little for history and likes to give everything a dark and gritty makeover. Meanwhile some voices thought they were going to drop the comic publisher altogether and just use the characters in other media, or outsource their comics like Marvel has with IDW on some of their kid-version titles. However, look what’s happened during the death plague shutdown. DC is giving Diamond competition again (though DC was the reason Diamond was the last comic shop distributor standing), DiDio is gone, and rumor has it the whole 5G initiative isn’t going to happen. That actually might make an interesting out of continuity miniseries or stand alone graphic novel. Maybe you could put Bendis on that and take him off Superman and Action Comics? Well, at least part of that is happening.
Yep, Bendis is leaving the main Superman title, though no word about Action Comics. It’s a step in the right direction anyway. During his tenure Bendis undid much of the good tiding the Rebirth initiative gave the Man Of Steel, part of DiDio’s plan to put everything back to the way he wanted it since he was kept off of Rebirth for a reason. The changes he made were a poor fit for Superman and the direction the character has taken. Depending on who takes his place this is really good news. Of course, that also depends on whether or not Bendis’s bad changes are undone.
Now this is decor I could get behind for once this week.

Can we just stop now? I guess Russel T. Davies was jealous of Chris Chibnall’s press (angry as most of it has been on the fans side) or now fan hate is the new standard among modern creators. First Chibnall decided to make the Doctor superspecial by making him/her an eternally generating being called The Timeless Child and the source of regeneration among the Time Lords. Now Davies, no stranger to making the Doctor the most special being in the universe during his run, has further boosted that by stating in a recent audio drama that the Doctor could even turn into different species, not just different genders.
I learned of this through a Clowfish TV episode on YouTube and while I don’t share Kneon dislike of furries (or anthropomorphic beings) I do agree that this is a bit too far. The more godlike they try to make the Doctor the less interested I am. This pretty much kills New Who for me because all the charm of the original has now been drained out. God Who is not the show I came for and was one of my problems with Davies’ run as well as the Timeless Child being already making the Doctor too special. Who cares if a Doctor dies now? Where’s the drama? Where’s the tension? The rest of the universe? Those stakes were already there and in more interesting shows. The Doctor Cosmic is not worth my time. I’ll stick with the old series, which streams on Pluto TV (channel 370) and I have a few serials on home video. It’s like nobody in creative cares about legacies and just want to tell random stories using famous names because they’re too lame to promote their own ideas and IP.
At least I think that’s what the video is about because I haven’t watched it yet. Now you may be wondering why I’m posting a video I haven’t fully watched yet. I did watch the beginning so I know sort of what the story of Final Fantasy VII is about and I know who Cloud, Aerith, Sephiroth, and Tifa are because I’m on the internet and travel in geek circles. However, I have never played the game or watched a play through of the classic video game, one of the most beloved in the Final Fantasy franchise. I have been watching Dan from PlayFrame play the game and I’m experiencing the story for the first time. That’s how I want to experience it and so far I’m enjoying the game. I thus want to save watching the rest of this video until his play through is done.
I also can’t think of a single thing to discuss right about now and I’m up against the clock. My feed is filled with backstage drama, online shenanigans, cancel culture, riots in the name of someone who deserves to be avenged but wouldn’t want to see storefronts of people getting by having their livelihood destroyed after being shut down for months due to the death plague and now will never open again. I’m not getting political (well, maybe that last part because the riots piss me off and I’m not even the one suffering) but my news feed certainly is and I’m afraid to look at my Twitter feed even more than usual. Even the YouTube videos are failing me except for reviews that wouldn’t match up to this site anyway.
So to bring us all something different Austin of Austin Eruption and a member of the Game Theorists with his The Science Of… series compares the two versions of the game to see what’s been added. I know Dan has mentioned some alterations during his play but those of you already spoiled on the story might find this interesting. I know he swears in other videos so maybe he’s swearing here too. I’ll watch it as soon as PlayFrame is done with Dan’s playthrough.
Meanwhile this decor is just too cluttered. (I have a theme this week.)
